Here is a student’s review of New Creations Boarding School and its impact on her life:
My name is Alexis and I’m 15 years old. Before I came to New Creations, I had a bad attitude and was stealing and lying to my parents and family. Since I’ve been at New Creations, I have been able to find a relationship with Jesus Christ and have been able to get out of the habits of lying, stealing and having a bad attitude. New Creations has also opened doors that allow people here to minister to my family. I have realized that I can never again live my life without Christ being the center of it.
I’ve seen miracles happen in others and in me that I never thought I would see. I still have a lot of room to grow and mature in my walk with Christ. I have New Creations and the power of the Holy Spirit to thank for getting me to the spot I am and helping me to grow to be the person God has always seen me as. God is amazing and so mighty that I can’t think of any other way to thank Him other than to let Him control every area of my life.
New Creations Ministries has mission outreach programs in four unique areas: boarding school opportunities for troubled teens, Christian Day School for local students, Bible College for adult education, and an all-age camp program. New Creations values each of these missions for Christian outreach, and New Creations Boarding School serves as the strong foundation of the church.
Located across nearly 600 acres in eastern Indiana, New Creations Boarding School was the first mission program established by Tim and Bonnie Cummings in the late 1960s, after both found their calling to work with struggling teens who need guidance. The ministry has its roots as a traveling choir, when oftentimes Tim and Bonnie Cummings would take children into their home for brief periods of time. This was the foundation on which the Boarding School and other ministries were built over the course of forty years.
Today, the New Creations Boarding School remains committed to several core principles which have guided the ministry since its inception.
One of these principles is the dedication of the faculty and staff at New Creations to helping teens develop their spiritual lives through Christ-centered education and living. Students reside in a dormitory staffed 24 hours a day and are kept on a rigid schedule in order to promote Christian discipline and respect for authority figures. Faculty and staff approach counseling with a pastoral, Biblical standpoint which has been effective in helping teens transition from adolescence to adulthood.
Another guiding tenet of New Creations is the restoration of family relationships that are often strained or broken by the behavior of a trouble teen. Parents from across the country turn to New Creations when their teens are causing serious problems at home or at school. Sending a child to any boarding school is always a difficult family decision. But for many parents seeking Christian education for their child in a protected environment, New Creations Boarding School is a trusted institution known for shaping students’ behavior so they are ready to return home.
New Creations takes the academic success and development of students very seriously. The boarding school works with the student to develop a customized class schedule that allows for students to learn at their own pace. Students attend daily classes on campus and are carefully monitored by teachers and staff to evaluate improvement or identify areas which may need improvement. Classes utilize a computer-based system with a wide variety of class types and grade levels.
New Creations Boarding School has a record of helping teens become stable, successful adults. When contacted by a concerned parent, New Creations works with him or her to discuss any issues or questions he or she may have about the school. Contact the school regarding payment plan options and school loan resources.
Here’s another student testimonial. This one is from one of the teen guys at the boarding school:
Before I came to New Creations, I was pretty much on my own because of circumstances beyond my control. I was pretty much free to do whatever I wanted during this time. But because my dad cared for me, before he died, he gave guardianship to our pastors, to help me get where I needed to be. They knew Pastor Tim Cummings and the ministry of New Creations and thought it would be perfect for my situation.
So far I have been moving up the level system, and since I’ve been here the school has been helping me to get caught up in school and everything is good. Thanks to God for giving my father clarity of mind long enough to make the decision he made.
Note: New Creations Boarding School closed on July 2016 after 47 years of successful ministry serving troubled youth.
