Home automation for every mother of preschoolers

Last updated on August 29, 2008 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

I just had to make a last minute run to the post office and bank.  That may not sound like a big deal but when you factor in the three boys I had to take along, it becomes a big deal.  My children are 4 years, 2 1/2 years, and 7 months old.  Every trip out the door becomes a large hurdle to cross.  A trip that should only take ten minutes suddenly takes closer to half an hour.

Just on my trip to the bank, post office and a quick stop for gas I heard the words “I’m thirsty” more times than I want to count.  Oh, and of course “will they give us a lollipop?” at the bank.  As if we need more sugar!

I guess it’s crazy little trips like this that make me curious to see what inventions are out there to make simple tasks even simpler.  The person who invented the remote control to unlock car doors and open van doors should have been given an award by all mothers.  In the amount it would have taken to punch in a security code on a car a child could have gotten loose from his mothers grasp in been in front of a moving vehicle.

The KR10A Security Key Chain Remote – X10 is very comparable to the car remotes in use and usefulness.  This  remote can be used to turn the X10 DS7000 Protector Plus Home Security System on and off.  How easy it would be to turn off the security system as a person is pulling in the driveway instead of getting the whole family to the door and then trying to keep them standing still while punching in a code.

One Security Key Chain comes with the Protector Plus Home Security System but I think it is really neat that you can actually use up to eight of these remotes for one system.  For only $9.99 at The Home Automation Store I think it is well worth the convenience and my husband and I can each have one on our keychains.

As for the Protector Plus Home Security System, this is a great system a person can install themselves without having to bring out a professional and there are no monthly fees involved for monitoring.  You do it all yourself with the wiring that already exists in your home to make it affordable.  This system can actually be programmed to call your cell phone (or 3 other numbers) if there is a breech in security and you yourself get to determine whether there is a need to call the police.  It’s simple, it’s easy and it’s mother friendly.
