Awesome Pool Party Planning Ideas – Part 2

Last updated on October 25, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

When it comes to pool parties, a little careful planning can keep everything moving along swimmingly. Here are some more ideas to keep in mind for your next backyard bash.

1. Keep Safety a Top Priority

Whether you’re hosting a pool party for kids or adults, you want to be careful to keep your guests as safe as possible. If it’s going to be a large gathering, consider hiring a certified lifeguard to keep an eye on the pool at all times. This is an especially good idea if you’re hosting a party where there will be guests who aren’t strong swimmers. Having a lifeguard on duty can give you and your guests extra peace of mind. If it’s not feasible for you to take this precautionary step, at least designate responsible adults to keep a close watch on the pool.

You’ll also want to make sure your pool is properly chemically balanced before the party. Have pool safety rules posted in a visible spot and draw attention to them at the beginning of the party. Make sure there’s adequate lighting both in and around the pool if you plan on extending the party into the evening hours. Last but not least, clear your deck of any algae or debris that could lead to slip and fall accidents. A fun pool party is a safe pool party!

2. Play Fun Music

Music can create a lively atmosphere for your party. You can choose swashbuckling tunes to go with your pirate theme or tropical island music to set the tone for your beach party. Just make sure not to blast the tunes so loud that you bother your neighbors. You want to keep the music at a pleasant volume so your guests will be able to mix and mingle comfortably without having to shout.

3. Organize Your Space

Designating a specific place for guests to store various items can really help your guests to have a more enjoyable time. Have containers available for people to put their personal belongings so they’ll know where to find them quickly and easily when the party is over. Set up private areas so guests can change their clothes if they get tired of being in wet bathing suits. Put out a mat for kids to keep their sandals so you won’t have to search for them with a flashlight all over your yard at the end of the party. A little organization will go a long way toward helping your pool party run smoothly.

4. Provide Pool Items for Guests to Use

Make sure you have plenty of extra towels available for guests who forget to bring them. In fact, you may want to stock up on cheap beach towels and just let your guests know that they don’t need to bring them, as it seems inevitable that some guests always tend to leave their towels behind at pool parties! The same holds true for suntan lotion, sunscreen, pool toys, and floats. Let guests know that you’ll provide all the necessities for them so they won’t need to worry about bringing any cumbersome beach bags along.

5. Plan Fun Games and Activities

Whether you’re hosting a party for kids or adults, planning a few organized games can help get everyone into the party spirit. Ring toss games, water volleyball, and pool golf are some popular classic pool party games. Your games don’t all have to center around swimming. Some of them can take place in the yard, such as limbo, croquet, or corn hole. Organized games are especially good for kids’ pool parties as they can keep younger guests from getting bored and acting up in the pool. Make certain to allow for a balance of free time and organized activities.

6. Pass Out Pool-Themed Party Favors

For a special touch, you could consider distributing some pool-party favors that will enhance your gathering, such as sunglasses, small pool toys, or mini water guns. Instead of waiting until the end of the day to pass out these favors, you can pass them out at the beginning of the party so your guests can enjoy them throughout the day.

Hopefully, these ideas will give you a little extra inspiration as you start preparing for your ultimate backyard pool party. Happy swimming!
